Oklahoma is blessed with a tremendous volunteer community, people whose generosity of time and talent has an immeasurable impact on the lives of Oklahomans in need. Does this describe someone—or several people—you know?

Leadership Oklahoma's "Helping Oklahoma" contest is your opportunity to nominate a volunteer in your community who makes the kind of positive difference that deserves to be recognized. If selected as the winner, your nominee will receive a $2,500 prize to be donated to the charity outlined in the nomination.

Contest Rules

"Helping Oklahoma" is a contest developed to further Leadership Oklahoma’s mission to create, inspire and support leaders whose commitment to service energizes Oklahomans to shape our state’s future. Beginning October 1, nominations of Oklahoma volunteers who go above and beyond to make a difference in their communities and/or Oklahoma will be accepted.

The "Helping Oklahoma" contest will:

  • Recognize an exceptional Oklahoma volunteer for service to an Oklahoma 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization(s); and
  • Assist that organization with a $2,500 cash award to further the work of the volunteer.

Official Rules

The Leadership Oklahoma "Helping Oklahoma" contest begins on October 1, 2014, and ends November 21, 2014.

No purchase or payment is necessary to enter or to win the contest.

1. Sponsor
Leadership Oklahoma is the sponsor of this contest.
2. Eligibility
Volunteers who are residents of Oklahoma and/or have resided in Oklahoma for one year or longer are eligible to be nominated for their exceptional service to an Oklahoma 501(c)(3) organization as defined by the IRS. Nominations of exceptional volunteers can be made online at www.helpingoklahoma.com.
3. How to Enter
To enter the contest, nominator must go to the contest entry page at www.helpingoklahoma.com. Enter your first name, last name, email address, employer, phone number, name of volunteer who you are nominating and the organization(s) the volunteer is serving, and upload a photo, video and/or essay describing in 500 words or fewer how the volunteer has gone above and beyond in "Helping Oklahoma" be a better place for all. The material entered must indicate the amount of time and energy the volunteer has used serving a particular organization(s) and the impact that service has made.
4. Winner Selection
The criteria mentioned above will determine the winner. Nominations will cease on November 21, 2014. After conclusion of the Contest Period, the LOK Helping Oklahoma Selection Committee will, in its sole discretion, determine the volunteer who, based on their contest entry, is the most deserving to win the Grand Prize of $2,500. By participating in the contest, you agree that the decision of the Sponsor is final and binding in all respects.
5. Prize Description
One (1) Grand Prize winner will be selected. The Grand Prize winner will be awarded $2,500 to be donated to the 501(c)(3) charitable organization identified in the nomination. If more than one charitable organization is identified, then the Sponsor shall make the determination of which organization receives the Grand Prize. The winner is solely responsible for any and all federal, state and/or local taxes, fees and any other costs in connection with receipt of the prize. The winner will not be held liable for any warranty, costs, damages, injury, or any other claims incurred as a result of use of the prize once the winner has taken possession of the prize.
6. Winner Notification & Distribution of Prize Money to Charity
The Grand Prize winner will be notified via email or telephone on or around December 1, 2014. If, despite the Sponsor’s reasonable efforts, any potential winner does not respond within ten (10) days of the first notification attempt, an alternative winner may be selected. If any potential winner is found ineligible, or if he or she has not complied with these Official Rules or declines a prize for any reason prior to award, such potential winner will be disqualified and an alternative winner may be selected. If the Sponsor decides to select an alternative winner, the Sponsor shall, in its sole discretion, determine the eligible and qualified entry that is next most deserving. The winner will be announced to the public on or around December 10, 2014.
7. Participation of Rights by Sponsor/Required Paperwork & Permissions
Participation in this contest constitutes permission for the Sponsor, Leadership Oklahoma, to use the winner’s name, picture and story without compensation.

About Leadership Oklahoma

For 28 years, Leadership Oklahoma has been dedicated to connecting passionate Oklahomans from across the state to form a living network of diverse individuals inspired to move Oklahoma forward.

Each year, Leadership Oklahoma brings together 50 of the state’s most outstanding leaders and educates them about issues that affect our state. The goal is to leverage the ingenuity and enthusiasm of these leaders to initiate positive change for the benefit of all Oklahomans. Participants are chosen by a rigorous application process and selected from across the state to represent Oklahoma’s professional, geographical and cultural diversity.

We encourage all Oklahomans to join us in serving our communities and affecting positive change in our state. It is our hope that this website and the posts on it will inspire the people of Oklahoma to find more ways to serve, build and lead our state.
